Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant General Manager to join our tooling operation team. As the Assistant General Manager, you will work closely with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, drive performance, and ensure the smooth functioning of our tooling operation. Your role will involve providing leadership, managing staff, optimizing production processes, and maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in tooling operations, excellent organizational and managerial skills, and a passion for achieving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the General Manager in the overall management of the tooling operation, including production, quality control, and maintenance.

2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic plans, objectives, and performance metrics to drive operational efficiency and productivity.

3. Supervise and lead a team of employees, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluation.

4. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and quality standards throughout the operation.

5. Monitor and analyze production data, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.

6. Manage inventory levels, procurement, and supplier relationships to ensure timely availability of materials and components required for production.

7. Coordinate with engineering teams to provide input on tooling design, modifications, and enhancements to improve performance and reduce downtime.

8. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various processes and equipment, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality requirements.

9. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting innovation, identifying best practices, and implementing process enhancements.

10. Resolve operational issues, customer complaints, and technical challenges in a timely manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.

11. Monitor and control operational expenses to meet budgetary goals and financial objectives.

12. Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes relevant to tooling operations.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

2. Proven experience (5+ years) in a managerial or supervisory role within a tooling operation or manufacturing environment.

3. Strong knowledge of tooling operations, manufacturing processes, and quality control systems.

4. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire employees.

5. Sound understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

6. Proficient in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.

7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with stakeholders.

8. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.

9. Proficiency in using computer software and tools relevant to production planning, inventory management, and data analysis.

10. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.

11. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
