Role Summary

The Assistant Manager of Quality is responsible for ensuring that the organization maintains a high level of quality in its products or services. They work closely with the quality team, production team, and other relevant departments to implement and maintain quality standards, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Supervise and provide leadership to the quality assurance team members who directly or as a their primary role support production (including weld lab/destruct team)
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality-related activities, including inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions. Generate reports on quality metrics, trends, and performance indicators to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments in improving overall product quality and manufacturing efficiency
  • Full compliance with all administrative requirements within Maple Stamping as well as compliance with current Customer standards and procedures / quality programs and Environmental Management Systems Standards.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., quality management, engineering, or related discipline). A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of quality control and assurance experience in automotive manufacturing (strong knowledge of resistance and MIG welding an asset)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, including providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., ISO standards, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing)
  • Good command of the English language both verbal and written

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong statistical analysis skills able to collect and interpret data, conduct trend analysis, and make data-driven decisions to identify areas for improvement and ensure product quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills – able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (both technical and non-technical), to address quality issues, resolve conflicts, and drive quality initiatives.
  • Leadership and Mentoring – able to provide guidance (and leadership where required), mentor junior engineers, and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Physical Demands
  • Exposed to work environment changes including noise and temperature change, lubricants, and vibration.
  • Works assigned shift; overtime as required.
  • May be required to carry out some physical lifting. E.g., Checking fixtures etc.
  • Wears all PPE including company provided uniform.
