A recognized thought leader and founded in 1914, Canada Cartage dominates the industry by delivering innovative fleet solutions.Position Summary: We are currently looking to add a Dock Worker with familiarity in last mile Ecommerce and Home Delivery and who is equally passionate about achieving operational success alongside our dedicated and loyal employees.

This role will be based in the Guelph Terminal and will be part of our Home Delivery & Courier operations.The Dock Worker is responsible for helping to support the day-to-day demands of meeting customer requests by ensuring inbound and outbound freight is picked and loaded safely and efficiently on time to meet delivery targets.

As a Dockworker, you’ll play an important role in making sure freight gets where it needs to go!

Become a part of our fast-growing, dynamic team and we’ll help you build a career that will exceed your expectations.Responsibilities:Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freightSort packages by region and assign to appropriate staging areasScan and organize all inbound and outbound packages arriving/departing to our terminal using ShiptrackCategorize and code each package by number in sequence for deliveryDetermine route optimization via Shiptrack to maximize efficiency of all deliveriesScan, update and track shipments using ShiptrackLoad and secure freight inside trailer in order of delivery sequence, using equipment provided to ensure trucks are sealed prior to departureEnsure all orders are accurately and efficiently received or shippedStrong work ethic and punctuality (time, attendance)Ensure compliance with WHMIS and TDG, follow company safety policies, and customer specific requirementsKeeping staging and work area tidy at all times work (removing debris, stacking or labelling skids, any general housekeeping required)Experience:Minimum of 1-3 years of previous dock experienceAbility to lift up to 50 LBSBasic computer skillsAbility to operate a scanning devicesRead and interpret shipping/receiving paperworkStrong communication skills both verbal and writtenWork efficiently to support a team environmentAbility to work alone with min supervision as requiredWorking Conditions:Cross dock environment with loud noises and moving equipmentTemperatures vary based on outside weatherFast paced interactive environmentWe would like to thank all those expressing an interest in this position; however only the candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
