Community Food Relief Staff Lead

TNO The Neighbourhood Organization

This is a Full-time position in Coteau-Du-Lac, QC posted June 4, 2021.

– THE NEIGHBOURHOOD ORGANIZATION (TNO, formerly Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office) is a community based multicultural, multi-service agency, which offers a broad range of programs to serve Thorncliffe Park, Flemingdon Park, and the surrounding communities through strengthening the quality of individual and community life.

Program Summary: The TNO Food Collaborative, previously known as The Food Relief Program aims to provide food to families and seniors who need extra support within the Thorncliffe and Flemingdon communities.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities: Support TNO lead staff in organizing and implementing the food relief program, in response to COVID
– 19.

Support food packaging, delivery and supports for community members of Thorncliffe Park and surrounding areas.

Work closely with community development leaders, residents and community partners, implementing all public health guidelines for safety, to best support emerging needs as they develop and change.

Support community initiatives such as implementing communication plans, support resource development and will work closely with Youth Leaders Customer Service Support for existing and new TNO Foodbank clients Build and maintain TNO internal client database Data Entry in Link 2 Feed – Daily Bread Food bank database Coordinate the preparation for the deliveries Ensure deliveries are delivered correctly and in a timely manner Qualifications: Must be between the age of 15 and 30; registered as a full-time student in the preceding academic year; and intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year.

A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Is legally entitled to work in Ontario Education: Experience or education (or combination) in social service, education or community development particularly recreational, tutoring or nutrition education experience.

Superior oral and written communication skills in language(s) relevant to the neighbourhood are an asset.

Experience working with newcomer communities, and low-income, multi-racial, multi-lingual groups.

Experience working from an integrated anti-oppression, LGBTQ positive framework.

Equipment Used: Knowledge of photocopier, fax, scanner, proficiency in the use of computers including word, excel, processing, printers and land line.

Working Conditions: Hours of Work: Successful candidate would be required to work regular hours for 21 hours per weeks, and flexible between 8:30AM to 8:00PM besides evening shifts and weekends as decided by program requirements.

Location: This position will be located within any of TNO’s service locations based on community and program requirements.

The locations (multiple) for this position may be added or moved to new addresses in the future according to the community and program requirements.
