Controls Engineer

Role Summary

The Controls Engineer is primarily responsible for researching, developing, designing and testing electronic components products and systems. The Controls Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing control systems and oversee documentation on program changes.

Key Responsibilities
  1.  Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax.
  2. Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments. Definitions: “Worker” means a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation but does not include an inmate of a correctional institution or like institution or facility who participate inside the institution or facility in a work project or rehabilitation program.
  3. Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  4. Assembles and installs new equipment and machines and is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
  5. Carries out preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications.
  6. Assists in developing and/or updating Preventive Maintenance procedures.
  7. Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement-3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
  8. Perform other duties as required.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • University Degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and Controls
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office, VB, AutoCAD
  • Able to safely operate all Material Handling Equipment (Scissor/Boom Lifts, crane, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Must be able to work with and communicate effectively with other employees, supervisors and trades
Additional Information

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant
  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours to meet needs of department with a Minimum amount of Supervision
  • Lifting up to 20 kgs
  • Exposed regularly to elements such as temperature and noise
  • Must be comfortable working at heights and within confined spaces.
