Role Summary

Responsible for the assembly, troubleshooting, maintenance and modifications to all equipment. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Assembles and installs new equipment and machines. 
  • Is able to make modifications to existing equipment as requested.
  • Develop, maintain and perform preventive maintenance procedures on electrical equipment as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Responsible to train maintenance and production personnel (as applicable).
  • Responsible to develop and implement process procedures.
  • Troubles shoot electrical and electronic equipment in need of repair and for overall system continuous improvement (optimization).
  • Coordinate activities of apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors (as applicable).
  • Assists in determining and setting up spare part requirements.
  • Provide technical support to problem solving activities such as 8D investigations.
  • Maintains safety standards of equipment and work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor and / or other members of senior management

Health and Safety 

  • Ensure all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed.
  • Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues.
  • Taking appropriate corrective action when substandard performance is observed.
  • Review and adhere to Mississauga Seating Systems’ health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, policies and forms.
  • In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the  Occupational Health & Safety Act S. 28
     
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Served a bona-fide apprenticeship of 4 years or 8000 hours, or 5 years – 9000 hours and holds a certification which substantiates this claim. (Preferably in the areas of automotive, high volume assembly and sequencing; fixture design; torque monitoring / control; and material handling systems); or  
  • 8 years of practical experience in the skilled trade or classification in which he/she claims Journyman’s designation and can prove the same. (CAW Journeyman/Woman card will be accepted as proof). 
  • Experienced in all aspects of industrial electrical maintenance and preventive maintenance practices. 
  • Team approach to problem solving.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven project and time management ability.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word / Excel.
  • Exposure to QS-9000 and Lean Manufacturing production environments.
  • Complete a successful evaluation by Magna Technical Training division
