The Area Supervisor is responsible to support, mentor and coach the Engineering Team Members in the performance of their duties, focusing on Safety, People, Quality and productivity and all company/regulatory policies and procedures.
• Minimum 5 years experience in engineering within an automotive or related manufacturing industry
• Engineering Degree/Diploma or equivalent combination of education and applicable work related experience
• Proficient in MS Office
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to uphold confidentiality
• Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work overtime to as required
• Ensure all Engineering team members have all safety training, follow and enforce all safety policies
• Promote safety, ensure engineering team members process capture, good ergonomic practices, acceptable walk distances, and that equipment has PSHSR sign off
• Implement corrective actions for Safety, Quality, And Audits
• Conduct accident / incident investigations
• Lead and schedule the activates of the team members
• Develop Team Members communication, time management, meeting facilitation skills through coaching and mentoring
• Develop Engineering team members management skills of programs, projects, budgets and integrators
• Establish and maintain effective communications with all departments
• Promote accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy
• Provide formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members (daily, Weekly, Yearly)
• Facilitate regularly held department meetings to promote function and communication among Team
• Ensure training for team members as outlined on Deco Automotive’s training matrix
• Facilitate the cross functional training of Team Members to maximize flexibility to support SPQP
• Monitor, track and improve upon key indicators
• Complete layered audits to include safety, standardize work, housekeeping and 5S
• Plan and direct the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
• Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to meet changing customer and business needs/demands
• Investigate and Participate in the review of new potential integrators capabilities and be an active part of the decision process for integrator price negotiation and selection
• Investigate new technologies for feasibility and promote ideas to enable our company to gain cost competitiveness over our compaction
• Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function
• Solicit and implement Continuous Improvement ideas
• Participate in” best practice” events to share “ things gone right” and “ things gone wrong” with other divisions within Magna and Cosma
• Participate in manpower planning and recruiting
• Review all process layouts to ensure safety zoning is acceptable and will not create unnessassary downtime
• Promote principals of SPQP ( Safety, People, Quality and Production
• Follow and comply with all Operation Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO 14001)
• Adhere to Deco Automotive’s core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
• Lead Engineering Team Members in accordance with the principals of the Magna Employee’s Charter and the polices and procedures set out in the company Handbook and Credo
• Perform Other duties as required

• Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safety in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.
• Report to his/her leader or designate any contravention of the act, any known hazards or defects in equipment
