Fitter/Welder – Up to a $1000.00 sign on bonus

Cambridge Pro Fab

This is a Contract position in Brantford, ON posted August 3, 2022.

Fitter/Welders are responsible for the layout, fitting, and welding fabrication.

As a minimum, all Fitter/Welders shall be able to pass a classification S, class 1GF, D1.1 1998 qualification for Gas Metal Arc Welding of steels over ” thick.


  • Work in compliance with the provision of the Act and the regulations and all applicable legislation
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn
  • Be trained in the appropriate welding procedure and on the appropriate welding machine
  • Follow all health and safety rules and regulations as per Cambridge Pro Fab Inc.’s policies and procedures
  • Work and assist others in continuously improving safety
  • Able to understand, interpret, and lay out work as per engineering drawings, bill of materials and work orders
  • Responsible for proper use and handling of company, coworker, and personal equipment, machinery, and tools
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and safe at all times
  • Fitting parts that have been assigned (may be required to lift steel by hand, overhead crane and/or forklift)
  • Operate a welding machine in a safe and professional manner
  • May be required at minimum to pass a CWB flat position weld test and may be asked to pass an all-position test
  • Weld any job as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Plant Supervisor. This may include, but is not limited to, working at certain heights, working within confined spaces and welding in some areas for a prolonged period of time. When welding at certain heights, and/or in confined spaces, additional training may be required. The ability to be agile and flexible for welding in any position(s) is required. Welding of various metals may be required
  • Clean own welds with grinders, scrapers, wire brush, and/or chipping hammer
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately in all steps within the process of manufacturing
  • Maintain a consistent line of communication between themselves, the Supervisor and/or workers on opposite shifts
  • Be a team player, cooperate and communicate efficiently with the Plant Manager, Supervisors and fellow coworkers
  • Perform other duties outside the normal scope of their daily tasks for the betterment of the company
  • Ocassional use of overhead cranes, forklift, ladders and other equipment as per company procedures
  • Correctly fill in and hand in daily time cards
