Machinist Operator

Aérospatiale Hemmingford inc.

This is a Contract position in Hemmingford, QC posted August 3, 2022.

Reporting to the Foreman, the machine operator will set up and operate various digitally controlled machine tools (lathe and milling machines) used to perform metal machining operations to then produce, repair or modify aerospace parts.


  • Plan the workday according to the requirements of his/her position using the time activity management (Orchestra) software.
  • Use company manuals and operating instructions to determine the required work procedures as listed in the MOS assembly guide.
  • Set up milling machines from work sheets.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, graphs, charts, and specifications to determine machining operations to be carried out.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances and prepare working sketches.


  • Complete your time sheet daily and have it approved either manually or stamped by the foreman.
  • Carry out physical inventories of finished or in-process products when necessary.
  • Ensure the availability of materials, tools, equipment, and parts required for machining and inform the person in charge of orders.
  • Always provide quality work to co-workers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in all circumstances whether it is to assist, train or find solutions.

  • 40 hours per week,
  • Day shift: Your choice of:
    • You set your schedule: 40 hours from Monday to Friday
    • Fixed schedule: Monday to Thursday, form 6:00am to 2pm
  • Night shift:
    • 3:45pm to 1:45am, Monday to Thursday, 2$ added bonus
  • Weekend shift:
    • From 6:00am to 6:00pm, Friday to Sunday (4 hours are paid and not worked), 2$ added bonus

Job requirements

  • Hold a DEP in machining technique or an Attestation of Vocational Studies (ASP) in machining on numerically controlled machine tools or a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in mechanical engineering.
  • Any experience as a machinist in the aeronautical field will be considered as an asset.
  • One to two years’ experience in a technical machining role will be considered an asset.
  • Provide impeccable customer service in terms of meeting commitments, communication, etc.
  • Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Have a good knowledge of French, both spoken and written. Reading and understanding English will be considered as an asset.
