Maintenance Manager

Role Summary

This position is accountable for managing a team of employees, including skilled trades, to improve the manufacturing process to achieve world class performance.  The Maintenance Manager will manage in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee Charter.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the activities of all maintenance and facilities and personnel

Research feasibility and costing on major overhauls, equipment acquisitions/replacement, facilities upgrades and special projects

Implement and maintain preventative maintenance schedule with the ultimate goal of minimizing unscheduled breakdowns and associated costs

Continually monitor performance of equipment/tooling and rectify inherent design and quality issues

Responsible to ensure all employees are treated in accordance with Magna Employee Charter, and that progressive discipline is according to Dortec Industries policies and procedures

Involvement in the accident/incident investigation process

Support all new product launch reviews

Assist manufacturing engineering department with inspection of new program equipment vendors, investigation of function of equipment and provide approval sign-off where necessary

Provide necessary technical support to cross-functional team to aid in safe and cost effective decision making

Track various measurables and KPIs

Responsible for company’s Emergency Response Team

Responsible for annual department budget preparation and monitoring to ensure budgets are achieved

Establish needs and goals of the department

Develop policies and procedures to control operations of the department

Seek out / correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health and safety policies are followed.


Key Qualifications/Requirements

Completion of specialized trade courses and/or apprenticeship/certification

Minimum 5 years supervisory or managerial experience preferred

Exposure to/experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, plant services, building structures, power presses, robotics, automation and capital projects considered an asset
