Role Summary Support Maintenance Manager in the overall organization and operation of the Maintenace Department.

Key Responsibilities Conformances to ISO 14001 practices.

Ensures that building, building infrastructure, building services, production and production support equipment are in good/safe working condition.

Ensures that an effective preventive & predictive maintenance system is in place and well understood by the members of the maintenance team.

Develops and maintains a good working relationship with the J.H.&S.C.

Ensures that Precision Technologies retains and develops qualified mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic & electronic staff, to conduct all preventive, predictive and emergency maintenance activities.

Maintains documentation on all equipment, building infrastructure, etc., such as machine manuals, electric circuit diagrams, hydraulic-pneumatic circuit diagrams, assembly drawings, spare part lists, preventive/predictive and emergency breakdown work orders/instructions.

Ensures that the tool room equipment and the required tools are kept in good working condition and are readily available.

Coaches, trains, develops and inspires the maintenance staff.

Keeps a record of employment for each maintenance employee to establish continuous feedback.

Maintains and develops the necessary work instructions regarding the maintenance area under the QS9000 requirements and trains his staff accordingly.

Provides equipment downtime and equipment related cost reports in order to focus on cost reduction and to be aware of maintenance related costs.

Is an active member in cross-functional teams which are occasionally formed to work on continuous improvement projects.

Maintains spare part inventory and reorders material.

Selects reliable and quality suppliers for spare parts.

Selects reliable and quality contractors for building modifications, major machine repair work, etc.

Works out RFQ’s relating to areas such as building modifications, outside equipment repair requirements, etc.

Provide effective management coaching, encouragement and leadership to all maintenance personnel, including job specific scheduling Schedule technical & personnel resources to effectively support the Divisions’ equipment and facilities requirements, including overtime where required.

Ensure full compliance with relevant trades standards of best practice in all work carried out by his/her team.

In co-operation with other departments maintain a clean, safe and efficient department, including machine maintenance, housekeeping, and safety improvements.

Prepare annual and probationary subordinate performance appraisals.

Maintains and promotes the Magna Charter.

Specific accountabilities for safety include, but are not limited to performing regular workplace inspections, conducting/participating in safety talks, staff meetings, cell meetings, actively participating in accident/incident investigations, training new employees, identifying and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, identify, correct or commend health and safety performance and conducting performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance.

Perform any and all other assignments from time to time as management directs.

Key Qualifications/Requirements Experience with supervising others in a manufacturing environment Maintenance experience of at least 5 years in a heavy industrial maintenance environment, preferably in machining, assembly or Die Casting.

Possesses valid Ontario Trade ticket as Millwright or Electrician.

Good communications skills, both written and oral.

Effective problem solving techniques.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize them.

Familiarity and conformance with legislated requirements of the OHSA.

General PC knowledge.

Previous management or leadership experience of skilled trades.
