Job Description:

3M is seeking an Electrical or Mechanical Technologist/Technician for its Personal Safety Division team, located in Brockville, ON*.   The successful candidate will make an impact by performing preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance on manufacturing equipment.

*Successful security clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration program is a mandatory pre-requirement for this position at this location. Please note the following are some (but not all) of the listed requirements for Controlled Goods Clearance:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen normally residing in Canada, or must be a Permanent Resident normally residing in Canada
  • Must have valid and current identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport, birth certificate)
  • Must be able to provide a residential address and employment history of the past 5 years
  • If applicable, living outside of Canada during the past five years will require an international criminal name check

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance
  • Drive continual improvement programs in areas of responsibility with root cause failure analysis of equipment and develop preventive maintenance procedures
  • Provide technical leadership to production personnel through active participation at daily manufacturing Tier meetings
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings and PLC ladder logic
  • Develop a cooperative effort with manufacturing and plant engineering personnel to support equipment reliability

To set you up for success in this role from Day 1, 3M requires (at minimum) the following qualifications

  • Completion of Technologist/Technician Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Electro Mechanical engineering
  • Availability for standard shift rotations with periodic on-call support for 24/7 operations

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experienced in Rockwell control systems and process instrumentation
  • Electrical / Instrumentation background as well as a solid Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with custom fabricated industrial automated manufacturing equipment an asset
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Able to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong communication, self motivation and time management skills
  • Proficient in electro mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and industrial robotics
  • Basic MS Office skills and Maintenance Management Software. (SAP working knowledge an asset)
  • Good electrical and/or mechanical aptitude

Travel: In this role, you will be required to travel less than 5% of the time for training. A valid driver’s license is required.
