Maintenance Worker

We also take time to recognize each other and have fun SUMMARY OF POSITION The maintenance worker will be responsible for performing general building, property maintenance, routine and emergency maintenance activities.

The maintenance worker will also be responsible for trouble shooting and performing minor repairs on plumbing systems, dry walling, carpentry and notifying management of needed repairs.

HOURS OF WORK The position will work 35hours a week, 8:30am – 4:30pm and on call one week every 5 weeks.

RESPONSIBILITIES Routine maintenance and/or general handyman work including painting, minor drywall repair, ceiling tile installation, ceramic tiles repair/installation, minor carpentry, lock replacement/repair, basic plumbing and other duties.

Coordination of repairs necessary upon unit change over as required, and in consultation with the Maintenance Coordinator Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of structures and ground on the properties.

Residential installation and assembly including blinds, screen doors, etc.

Help ensure a safe work environment is always maintained by committing to work safely.

Promptly reports/takes corrective action to address actual or potentially hazardous situations.

Maintain good work habits and arrives at appointments punctually.

Maintain a positive working relationship with all tenants.

Report tenant complaints promptly to the Maintenance Coordinator and/or Tenant Liaisons.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS High school diploma/GED preferred.

3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred.

Must be able to read and understand product assembly instructions and must have good communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills.

First Aid certification and working knowledge of WHMIS are considered assets.

Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, relevant insurance and use of a reliable vehicle.

Must have basic tools and be able to take direction well Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

Comfortable working outdoors, indoors and on a ladder Able to lift up to 50lb (example softener salt)
