Maintenance Worker III

Your Opportunity: Performs skilled repair, maintenance and applicable installation duties on complex mechanical systems and equipment such as boilers, washing machines, dishwashers, and other hospital equipment following manufacturer’s specifications; locates or traces mechanical malfunctions; disassembles machinery or equipment, repairs or replaces worn parts and re-assembles; tests, adjusts and aligns drive and suspension systems, installs, cleans, lubricates motors, fans, compressors, and control systems.

Operates and monitors the operation of boilers and cooling systems; takes and records gauge readings; calculates and adds chemicals, cycles water softeners; adjusts chemical pumps, replaces pump seals, overhauls boilers and dismantles for inspection; performs cleaning, checking and scheduled servicing functions.

Performs minor renovation and structural repair duties such as framing, insulating and surfacing walls according to drawings; repairing linoleum, carpeting and ceramic tile; performs minor repair to furniture such as shelving, cupboards, and tables.

Assists journeyman or other maintenance staff with various maintenance, installation or repair projects; performs a number of skilled duties independently and assists the journeyman with technical project work.

Provides advice to other staff on technical matters and assists in their training and orientation; may assign and provide work direction to a small maintenance group and may also perform the duties of a Maintenance Worker I and II as required.

Description: As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment.

You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building.

Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems.

In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Possession of a valid driver’s licence.

Additional Required Qualifications: Possession of a valid class 5 Alberta license.

5th Class Power Engineers Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications: As required.
