Manufacturing Engineering Technician

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician may support the setup and operation of metalworking, assembly, test and inspection equipment used in the manufacturing of experimental and prototype spark plugs.

They may work with or be a member of the machine build group who is responsible for the mechanical and electrical building of the machine.

They will assist in the development and construction of new processes, procedures, and equipment in the manufacturing of spark plugs and ignition components.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Fitting and assembling components according to blueprints with the knowledge of machine construction using hand and power tools.

Work closely with collegues in APD or IAD on DOE’s, PFMEA’s, DFMEA’s, and Spec writing.

Requisition components, verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints.

Set up and operate various metal working and assembly equipment used in the manufacturing of experimental, prototype and pre-production metal components and assembled spark plugs.

Follow established work instructions and procedures to produce plug components, plug assemblies and finished product.

Inspect and measure component and plug assemblies with micrometers, gages and comparators to ensure they meet product print specifications.

Testing operation of assembly after verifying alignment and the tolerances of moving parts.

Reviewing engineering designs and providing input for machine’s ease of use and improved function.

Documenting machine builds including operation manuals, service parts list, PM schedule, and drawings.

Ability to work in a group of liked minded machine builders, who appreciate their job, are company and customer focused to support multiple projects while meeting timelines and delivery schedules is essential.

Perform other duties as required.

Required Experience EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Associate’s degree in Manufacturing / Mechanical Technology or related work experience in machine shop, tool and die making, metal cold forming, assembly or robotics SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Pro Extensive training in CNC Programming (Certificate preferred)
– HAAS and Hitachi CNC a plus Experience with Gibbs CAM and AutoCAD preferred Personal computer use proficiency is desired and will be required training if skill is not present.
