Group Description

The Mechatronics, Mirrors and Lighting group specializes in automotive technologies that are driving the future of mobility. General:

  • Provide support for maintenance planning for all phases of equipment, including initiation, identification (option analysis), development (design) and implementation.
  • Participate in make vs buy equipment decisions.  Assist in resolving Supplier technical issues arising from deviation requests, design ambiguities and feasibility concerns.
  • Provide daily operational guidance and direction to staff on work assignments, managing results against set targets, scorecards and other metrics in place by Management Team.
  • Assist in daily support to various manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate/optimize build process to ensure product compliance to drawing and applicable manufacturing and design standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement actions and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Lead in problem-solving efforts to improve product quality, cost and reduction in cycle time at production Cell.
  • Actively support Lean and Six Sigma in all manufacturing processes.
  • Review strengths and weaknesses of internal manufacturing, business processes and equipment, driving scrap and labor reductions.
  • Creation of manufacturing flow charts for manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in design for manufacturing and design for cost reviews through the PDP Process.
  • Participate in developing tooling standards and verification that sourced tooling meets established standards, to include tool follow-up and Tooling Preventive Maintenance requirements.
  • Creation of manufacturing flow charts and equipment capacity studies for all processes.
  • Good working knowledge of project information and project interdependencies to make informed decisions.
  • Effectively lead team with other support disciplines to plan, co-ordinate, support manufacturing and maintenance schedules.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to reduce cost and cycle times as per Yearly Targets.
  • Promote and encourage a team environment/approach to achieve stated goals.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Able to drive accountability down to direct reports through structured requirements, expectations and timelines.
  • Demonstrated focus on meeting program commitments and enforcement of work plans where timing is not achieved.
  • Understanding of Quote Capital Process and ROI.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Program Delivery Process (Gate Milestones) and associated expectations.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, creative, innovative and people-oriented person.
  • Able to multi-task on several fronts to meet Business Plan objectives.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.

  • Excellent follow-up tools and mechanisms.
  • Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) methods and processes.

  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements (IATF16949/ISO9000/ISO14001/OHSMS) and industry standards.
  • Understanding of IPC standards and ability to translate those requirements to equipment and processing strategy.
  • Knowledge and execution experience as it relates to APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Flow.
  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets.
  • Ability to create and manage autonomous work groups with defined expectations and deliverables.
  • The ability to develop and maintain Group Dynamics with cross-functional/matrix teams.
  • The ability to develop and maintain Program Status Reports (Program Management Templates) and use reports as a Management Tool for performance monitoring against Customer (internal/external) expectations.
  • A tenacious personality that will not let an issue be left unresolved.
  • Transparency in communications with the understanding to escalate when appropriate for assistance in resolution.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of Electronics Engineering or Electronics Manufacturing experience required in the Automotive and/or Automotive Supply Base sector focusing on SMT manufacturing, Assembly Methods, and Tooling.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Manufacturing Environment experience required
  • Experience working with design engineering to construct prototype boards and products.
  • Experience in an Integrated Product Development Team environment required
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methods (Red X, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.) required

 

Language Skills:

English

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with numbers with accuracy.
 

Reasoning Ability:

Effective troubleshooting for a variety of situations/issues effectively.

 

Special:

  • Review and analysis of data from Capability Studies
  • Print Tolerancing and GD&T.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership and development of team members within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understands and follows existing Magna policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements

  • Ability to move around an office environment and on production floor.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation.

  • May be required to travel.
