The selected Purchaser will play an instrumental role in procuring materials and supplies within an on-time delivery environment.

Your Challenge As a Purchaser for this company you , you will have the opportunity to coordinate all activities associated with the procurement of materials and supplies for the Edmonton area.

In collaboration with the operations department you will source products and qualify suppliers to ensure quality, on time delivery of products: Purchasing high quality materials while ensuring correct quantities and lowest possible pricing Obtaining quotes, negotiate pricing & delivery dates to meet sales and manufacturing delivery dates.

Monitoring and reviewing MRP System and make purchases accordingly Preparing Purchase orders, soliciting bid proposals, and reviewing requisitions for goods not under contract Acting as liaison between Company and its Vendors, keeping track of delivery dates, quantities, Delivery KPI’s and purchase price history.

Negotiating pricing schedule with all Vendors in relation to quantity purchasing Providing vendors with forecast buying Informing the Service and Manufacturing Departments of any late delivery dates.

Building on and refining a list of existing preferred vendors Your Background The successful candidate for Purchaser role will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment.

A healthy mix of drive, technical knowledge, procurement experience and understanding of manufacturing processes will be essential to success in this role.

Qualified individuals should possess sophisticated knowledge in factors effecting commodity process, and in recognizing opportunities for pricing reductions.

Preference will be given to individuals with strong negotiation skills and a proven history negotiating contracts.

Desired skills and attributes include: proficiency with business systems such as MS Office and advanced ERP Experience (AS400 or Mapics would be a plus), and ability to read and understand technical drawings & BOMs.

Creativity, Organization, sense of urgency, and time management skills will all be paramount for success in this role; as will strong documentation, coordination and analytical skills.
