Ray of Hope: Youth Justice Worker (Secure Custody) – Relief/Pt

This is a Full-time position in Wilmot, ON posted January 8, 2021.

Job DescriptionFunded through the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, Ray of Hope operates a Secure Custody/Detention program which serves male youth who have been in conflict with law.Through our program, we offer a safe place for young men who have committed serious crimes to complete their court appointed sentences.

Through creating an environment where we commit to growth, act responsibility, keep integrity, and engage respectfully, we teach the youth skills so that they can contribute to their community to their community in a positive way, and decrease the likelihood of re-offending.We are currently hiring for Youth Care Workers to start as soon as possible.

The Youth Care Worker is responsible for providing day-to-day support and supervision to male youth in a Secure Custody/Detention facility.

The Youth Care Worker will engage in appropriate behaviour interventions and will actively participate in providing an effective, supportive, and respectful care system for the youth in custody/detention.

Qualifications:Education: In progress or Completion of post secondary education in a related field (such as social work, child and youth work); Experience: Previous experience working with at risk youth is an asset.Requirements:Successful candidates will be required to provide:Vulnerable Sector ScreeningConfirmation of Medical Fitness/Immunization History (form supplied by Ray of Hope, Physician confirmation required)3-Year (uncertified) Driving Record Search, a valid G or G2 Class driver’s license.Current Standard First Aid and CPRThe successful candidate must alsobe able to successfully complete our physical intervention training program (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB)) which we will provide.Values and Competencies:Successful candidates must be prepared to join us in our mission, vision and values and be compassionate, motivated and display integrity in their work.
