CBI Health Group is hiring a full time Social Worker to work in our interdisciplinary team.  If you are enthusiastic and eager to make a difference in the lives of others, and seeking personal and professional growth, this is an exceptional opportunity for you!  We are looking for a Social Worker with behavior management and development skills to support clients from all types of backgrounds and lifestyles.  

The position entails working in a one to one as well as group setting with individuals experiencing both acute and/or chronic Mental Health challenges.  The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team within our Chronic Psychological Injury program.  You will assist our clients to live better more fulfilling lives, working towards their goals, learning life skills, supporting community integration, practicing social skills, and returning to the workplace.

This opportunity is well suited to those seeking to work in an interdisciplinary environment with other professionals; Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Kinesiologists.  This position may require to travel to other clinics locations in the Calgary area.


As a Social Worker, you will:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver excellent client outcomes
  • Provide assessment and treatment to a wide variety of clients with varying needs, including those with chronic and/or mental health conditions
  • Have experience and understanding of Mental Health and challenging behaviours
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with adults with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health/psychiatric issues
  • Assist in the assessment of pre-existence of psychological issues, chronicity of conditions, level of resiliency and participate in treatment planning
  • Facilitate group classes in boundaries, stress management, relaxation, mindfulness, anger management, self-care and coping strategies
  • Assist in developing action plans and creating meaningful daily and weekly routine
  • Engage individuals in exposure in the community
  • Teach conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Establish and maintain rapport with clients, staff, management and other service providers
  • Follow health care/behavioural plans with the ability to observe and recognize changes
  • Perform accurate and timely written documentation as well as ability to make clear and decisive clinical recommendations


  • A high degree of proficiency in problem solving and decision making
  • Strong boundaries
  • An ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills; specifically in working with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Completion of a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization preferred)
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW)
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a clinical setting
  • All applicants must have authorization to perform Restricted Activities of Psychosocial Intervention (those with eligibility to obtain this designation through ACSW may be considered)
