WCB Appeals Specialist Workers’ Compensation Practice EDMONTON or CALGARY AB (Remote Home office) Full Time Permanent Employees can be absent from work for a variety of reasons: casual absence, work-related illness and/or injury, or health issues requiring the employee to be away from the work place for an extended period.

Reporting to the WC Appeals Manager of Workers’ Compensation Services you will represent the interests of our clients at various levels Workers’ Compensation appeals in the Western Provinces.

Responsibilities: Employer Representative for Employers from numerous industries Prepare and provide written appeal submissions at both levels of appeal Participate in oral hearings when required Conduct thorough case review and provide recommendations on appeal participation in a timely manner Research applicable laws and past judicial decisions Ensure all deadlines are met with regard to all appeals Provide exceptional customer service to all Clients (written and verbal communication) Act as a resource to the team of Case Managers Prepare cost relief arguments and financial analyses Managing clients’ needs in the areas of claims management, experience rating analysis, program design, appeals, program audits and classification issues Development and implementation of strategic workers’ compensation solutions across all industry sectors Making and/or assisting in effective oral presentations to clients or prospects, as part of a team or individually Initiating and participating in new business opportunities Managing client relationships for all sizes of accounts on both a provincial and national basis Your key responsibilities to clients will include: Analyze and provide recommendations on claims management in the context of applicable provincial Workers’ Compensation legislation Provide experience rating risk analyses and recommendations to maximize performance.

Conduct claims management audits and provide suggestions for change to enhance efficiencies.

Revenue and Rate Classifications reviews to ensure the client has been properly assessed in the correct rate group.

Represent the interest of the client before the appeal systems through oral and written submissions.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate has at least 5 years experience preparing written appeal submissions and participating in oral hearings; as well as, thorough working knowledge of WCB procedures, legislation, law and policy.

You have a background in claim adjudication and/or case management Experience in research, investigation, and the application of legislation, law and policies is required.

You possess superior interpersonal, written, organizational, and time management skills that are essential for this position.
